Thambal, a young lady is brutally raped by a Minister's son Rocky. But the charges for the heinous crime falls upon Chinglen, Thambal's boyfriend. When Joy dies the villagers prevent the funeral rights from being carried out.
Love between Shandhyarani and Shailesh that begins on chance meeting under a tree on a rainy day, and it ended up with a tearful note, torn apart by circumstances. The blossoming love between them is marred by the poverty of Sheilesh's family, as he is unable to secure a foothold in society since he doesn't have the means. In the final twist to the story, Shadhyarani is married off to another person by her parents. Oblique to fulfill her parents' wishes, Shandhyarani bides a tearful farewell to her lover, who in the meanwhile had left home never to return.

Aya's and Bem's romance is disrupted by Bem's mother on the ground that Aya is from a poor family background. Due to repeated physical and mental harassment by Sobhas, Bem becomes ill and gets hospitalised. During her stay in the hospital, her son Momocha dies. Bem becomes a mentally retarded woman. She comes back to her maternal home. There, Aya comes to take her. True love triumphs at the end.
