Naorem Ahanjao

Naorem Ahanjao, an actor painter from Manipur, India born in 1948 at Thangmeiband Thingel Maru and he was passionate in pursuing Fine Arts especially painting from an early age. He has acted in several hit Manipuri films such as Thambal, Kanaga Hinghougani, Asiba Thawaigi Mami, Aroiba Bidai, Nongju Ahing, Meichak-Meichak, Meehatpa and Chang Shi Chang. N Ahanjao breathed his last on December 25, 2023. The Manipur State Kala Akademi, in its message, saying that Ahanjao was closely associated with Manipur theatre, especially Rupmahal Theatre as a background scene painter beside being a freelance artist, the Akademi continued that Ahanjao also worked as a book illustrator and was awarded for his illustration in the book "Wari Lee Khongun Lee" written by RK Manisana Singh. He was also a much sought after artist engaged in painting posters for Manipur cinema halls.
