Storyline

Ima is a poor widow who has three children - Ibochouba, Chinglemba and Sanatombi. The widow maintained her family by selling vegetable at Imphal market. Ibochouba, the eldest son, is selected for studying Engineering outside Manipur. Ima bears all the burden of sending her son to study the course, with the hope that Ibochouba would provide for the family in future. Chinglemba and Sanatombi laboured hard to help their mother in meeting the monthly expenditure oflbochouba. After a few years, Ibochouba became an Engineer and married a woman named Bimola. A woman with a cunning mind, Bimola tormented Sanatombi and handled her husband's salary. Ima was left in woe. Bimola then influenced her husband Ibochouba to live at her parental home. Ima and Chinglemba were compelled to face the problem of their family maintenance. Chinglemba worked under a contractor named Chaoba. He had a good relation with Santi, Chaoba's daughter. Santi wanted to marry Chinglemba but he avoided her because of his poverty. Meanwhile, Sanatombi had a love relation with one Somendro. In the meantime, a crisis developed when Santi' s father engaged her to Somendro. Sanatombi was heart broken when she learnt of the engagement. She felt ill due to depression. Somendro assured her he would not accept the proposal of his father. Yet, Sanatombi sacrificed her love for Somendro by allowing him to marry Santi, and she breathed her last.
