Loukrakpam Jayanta, widely known as Tapta, is a revolutionary singer from Manipur who has made significant contributions to the fusion music genre. Born on March 30, 1966, in a humble family in Naranseina Mamang Leikai, Bishnupur District, Tapta’s passion for music was evident from his early days.

Despite the financial constraints of his family, Tapta’s zeal for music and culture was unstoppable. His first musical mentor was his late uncle Gandhar, who taught him the art of playing Tabla and singing. Tapta’s musical journey faced many hurdles, but his determination led him to become a renowned singer in Manipur.
